Launch market
Tampa Bay / west-central Florida
Our third launch market: Tampa Bay and the west-central Florida coast around it. We are starting with used pontoons and aluminum fishing boats about 16–26 ft. This page gathers the research, rules and places to use before you shop.
No live listings yet. We do not show dealer stock here, and no Florida dealer has signed up or bought a placement. Nothing is submitted from this page; dealer links go to the dealer's own website.
What this market covers
The Tampa Bay core — Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Bradenton, Largo and Pinellas Park — plus statewide Florida rules, ramps, marinas and dealers. We only link city pages that already exist on this site; we do not invent pages for nearby towns that are not built yet.
Start with the two first categories
- Pontoon and tritoon boats — models, lengths and builder-published prices.
- Aluminum fishing boats — models, lengths and builder-published prices.
- Cost to own a pontoon in Florida (draft pilot page) and the true cost calculator for any type.
- Which boat fits me? — six questions that do not ask where you live.
- How we estimate used prices — labeled estimates, not market data.
- Printable used boat inspection and sea trial checklists.

Florida rules, ramps and dealers
- Boating rules in Florida — registration, title, boater education, tax and safety gear, from the state agencies.
- State rules tool — enter Florida and a boat length.
- Boat dealers in Florida — 147 listed from OpenStreetMap and the NMMA/MRAA certified dealer list (not ranked, not endorsed).
- Marinas in Florida — 781 from open data.

Two points from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Florida DHSMV (FLHSMV) that matter when buying used (checked 2026-11-07):
- Title and registration: Florida is a title state. FLHSMV titles and registers vessels on public waterways; a buyer of a new or used vessel has 30 days to title and register it (proof of purchase must be aboard during that window). Applications go through a county tax collector or license plate agent. Title fees include $5.25 electronic / $7.75 paper / $11 expedited, plus $4 if the vessel was previously registered out of state; Class 1 (16 to less than 26 ft) registration is $28.75 before the $2.25 service and $0.50 FRVIS fees (optional county fee varies). See vessel titling and registrations.
- Boater education ID: anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 who will operate a boat in Florida waters with an engine of ten (10) horsepower or more must complete an approved boating safety course and carry a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card (and photo ID). The card does not expire (FWC ID card, boating safety education). FWC also publishes the statewide boating regulations (PFDs, navigation lights, sound signals and more).
