Launch market
Minnesota: Twin Cities and Central Lakes
One of our two first markets. We are starting with used pontoons and aluminum fishing boats about 16–26 ft. This page gathers the research, rules and places to use before you shop.
No live listings yet. We do not show dealer stock here, and no Minnesota dealer has signed up or bought a placement. Nothing is submitted from this page; dealer links go to the dealer's own website.
What this market covers
The Twin Cities metro plus the Central Lakes region to the north. Our city pages cover the metro today (18 cities below). We do not have separate city pages for Central Lakes towns yet, so for that region use the statewide ramp, marina and dealer lists further down.
Start with the two first categories
- Pontoon and tritoon boats — models, lengths and builder-published prices.
- Aluminum fishing boats — models, lengths and builder-published prices.
- Cost to own a pontoon in Minnesota (draft pilot page) and the true cost calculator for any type.
- How we estimate used prices — labeled estimates, not market data.
- Printable used boat inspection and sea trial checklists.

Minnesota rules, ramps and dealers
- Boating rules in Minnesota — registration, title, boater education, tax and safety gear, from the state agency.
- State rules tool — enter Minnesota and a boat length.
- Boat dealers in Minnesota — 47 listed from OpenStreetMap and the NMMA/MRAA certified dealer list (not ranked, not endorsed).
- Marinas in Minnesota — 91 from open data.
- Boat ramps in Minnesota — 3,508 from open data.
- Pump-out stations in Minnesota — 2 from open data.
Two points from the Minnesota DNR that matter when buying used:
- Private-sale title transfer: for a boat titled in Minnesota, the seller signs the front of the title and the buyer completes the back; the DNR lists the transfer fee and the extra papers needed for out-of-state boats or a lien (watercraft licenses and titles). For a new boat longer than 16 ft, the DNR says the dealer applies for title and registration for you.
- Operator permit phase-in: people born after June 30, 2004 need a valid operator's permit to drive a motorboat from July 1, 2025 (some exemptions apply), and the requirement extends to older birth years each July through 2028 (new boater education law).
Find a public launch with the DNR's public water access finder.

Dealers selling used pontoons or aluminum fishing boats here can list free through an authorized CSV or feed after written permission; we do not scrape dealer sites. Paid visibility (proposed Dealer Pro, $149 per rooftop per month) is not for sale yet. See For dealers or Advertise.
